Tudor style house in Rockhill Gardens neighborhood

Most of the homes in Rockhill Gardens were built between 1929 and 1945 by Napoleon Dible. He was one of the first developers in Kansas City to build on spec and then hustle to market these affordable homes to middle-class families.

Many of the homes in Rockhill Gardens appear in tax assessment photographs from 1940. See https://kc1940.org/ to look for a specific house.

Rockhill Gardens Neighborhood Association was officially incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in July, 1990, with the purposes of improving the quality of life for residents through community-building activities, information dissemination, utilization of city programs, and business involvement.

Known as “The Heart of America,” Kansas City is located in western Missouri and in eastern Kansas
where the Kansas River and the Missouri River meet. With deep roots in its own unique traditions,
Kansas City is an interesting and unusual destination.

Rockhill Gardens is part of a larger area of Kansas City known as Waldo, which encompasses the area between Gregory Boulevard to 85th Street and State Line to Troost. In 2026, Nextdoor named Waldo the friendliest neighborhood in Kansas City.
